#ABRoadEats 2015: Calling All Fans for Recommendations

#ABRoadEats 2015: Calling All Fans for Recommendations

If you’ve been following me online, I’m sure you’ve noticed the dozens of doughnuts, hot dogs and hamburgers I ate on the road (not to mention all the coffee) from city-to-city for my culinary variety show called The Edible Inevitable Tour (dates and tickets here).

Since your recommendations were spot on (thank you), I’m asking you again: Where should I eat? In each city, I’m looking for coffee shops, restaurants, late-night snacks and sandwiches available in the area.

If you know of a must-visit eatery in a city featured below, tell me in the comments, or on Facebook or Twitter.

You must include the hashtag to the appropriate city (otherwise I can’t thank you or stay organized):

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is fantastic blog. A fantastic read. I will definitely be back.

For #ABRoadeatsLA you shouldn’t miss an international award winning bean to bar chocolatier and coffee roasting cafe in Orange County’s Costa Mesa, ChocXO Coffee & Cacao. In addition to killer in-house roasted coffee, their single origin chocolates made in their Irvine factory are kept on tap in the cafe, a rare treat!

For coffee – Colectivo (you must go to the shop on Humboldt Ave where you can watch them roast the beans but the Wauwatosa on 68th sells they’re own beer and coffee brew) or Valentino Roasters in Bayview. #ABRoadEatsMKE

One day you’re going to have to include New Jersey on your road trip. There are a few really nice places in this state, and quite a few fans here, too.

Please visit Tekka Molina on San Pedro rd just inside of loop 410 across from Northstar Mall. They have the absolute BEST chorizo in all of SA. I don’t work for them or have an agenda, I’m just an extremely picky eater and that is the place I experienced my first Chorizo & bean taco on corn tortillas. It changed my life. 🙂 plus If you do, I’ll be living vicariously through you as my husband and I are stationed in Kansas and haven’t been home in over a year. Thanks for being my inspiration in so many ways. Have a safe and fulfilling trip to our beloved home town!

LA Panaderia on Broadway is a must visit! Delicious Mexican bakery with strong cultural roots. It has an open kitchen so you can see the magic happen. Artisinal breads make for delectable sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch! Pan dulce for a dessert…or a tequila almond croissant (my fave!)

When I was a young child, my father told me, “Son, by no means do I intend to crush your hopes and dreams, but your ludicrous ideas of locating even an average east coast style sandwich here in old San Antone will never be reality, no go eat some tacos like a real Texan.” 20 years passed, and just as I was ready to give up, Dignowity Meats on Houston Street‬ strolled into San Antonio and took my taste buds by storm. Fresh meats, prepared and smoked to perfection on all of the right breads, it’s like I’m back in Brooklyn playing stick-ball with the fellas. I implore to you, Sir Alton Brown, you must check out this establishment whilst in town. #ABRoadEatsSAT, #‎DignowityMeats

Alton Brown should try The Original Donut Shop. The best breakfast tacos and the best donuts in SA together under one roof. #ABRoadEatsSAT

I left a comment on face book like months ago I think but now that I have this second opportunity you MUST eat at Taquitos West Ave!! It is the best Taquitos hands down. My husband is from Mexico and we can no longer eat any other Taquitos in town. Also try the green salsa first!
    Taquitos West Ave!

You should check out The Hoppy Monk on your visit to San Antonio. At 4 months old, this place would already have a Michelin star, if the staff was forced to wear bowties, however, they are not and the food is still amazing. Do yourself a favor and grab the duck carnitas tacos and the porchetta. You could bring a friend and grab the ruben De lingua or moul frites as well. Don’t let me tell you how to do your job though, you could just as easily grab one of their amazing akaushi hamburgers… Do it brother, do it…

Although there are many great places in San Antonio to get great and unique food, why would you want to go out to eat again? Why not have a great home cooked meal at my house? My wife and I love to cook. You are welcome anytime.

Nama ramen and sushi in San Antonio is brand new but the ingredients the owner is using are so good I feel it has to be mentioned. He buys locally sourced salmon everyday, and the pork cheek and shoulder in the ramen is out of this world tender! It’s a must to try in San Antonio. If you’re looking for a little French pastry afterwards, do yourself a favor and check out Bakery Lorraine at the Pearl Brewery. They’re handmade poptarts are so fun, but their eclairs have my heart!
